Primo anno di produzione: 1960 (storicamente la nostra Barbera si chiamava Ronchi, ma successivamente per nuove acquisizioni di terreni e cambi varietali sui terreni esistenti si è passati ad utilizzare il nome Piani nel 1990).

Terreno: di medio impasto con una piccola percentuale di un tipo di argilla, molto simile alla bentonite, che rende il terreno più spugnoso, molto soggetto agli spostamenti superfciali, ma che dona all’uva una buona struttura tannica.

CARATTERISTICHE:

Il nome Piani, attribuito alla zona dove è ubicato questo vigneto, sta ad indicare proprio una parte di collina meno ripida rispetto alla media, già storicamente nota per la produzione di Barbera di qualità. In linea di massima tutto il comprensorio delle Langhe è caratterizzato dalla produzioni di vini morbidi ed eleganti. Il particolare terreno su cui è messa a dimora questa Barbera riesce però a conferire, ad un vitigno ricco di colore e di acidità, ma povero di tannini, una discreta componente strutturale, che ne fa un elemento di riconoscibilità.

NOTE TECNICHE:

Questo vino viene prodotto cercando di esaltare al massimo quelle che sono le caratteristiche del vitigno: vinosità, complessità e persistenza. Dopo una macerazione di 15/20 giorni, a seconda delle annate, in vasche di acciaio a temperatura controllata, viene passato direttamente in legno. Si affina per circa 8/9 mesi in botti di rovere (30/40% in barrique in parte nuove ed il resto in botti da 50 ettolitri), quindi viene assemblato, imbottigliato e lasciato riposare per circa 2 mesi in bottiglia prima di essere posto in vendita. Le basse rese produttive, le lunghe macerazioni ed il giusto apporto di legno, conferiscono a questo vino caratteristiche di longevità, complessità ed importanza che non hanno nulla da invidiare a quelle del nobile Nebbiolo.

SCHEDA DI DEGUSTAZIONE:

Il colore è rosso rubino brillante ed intenso, la vivacità lo rende particolarmente piacevole ed invitante. Le sensazioni olfattive molto fini crescono lentamente fornendo sfumature prima fruttate di mora e di prugna cotta e successivamente vinose, di fermentazione, tipiche della Barbera, con un giusto apporto aromatico del legno. Nel complesso la fragranza olfattiva fornisce un’impressione piacevole e stuzzicante. La sapidità e le impressioni acide caratterizzano questo vino che non nasconde la sua dotazione polifenolica. La buona ampiezza strutturale lo rende particolarmente interessante e di retrogusto persistente.
