WEINBEREITUNG

Die aus dem Weinberg Santa Pia in der Gemeinde Montepulciano stammenden Trauben wurden vor der Lese einer sorgfältigen Selektion unterzogen, zum Teil im Juli (grüne Selektion) und zum Teil etwa einen Monat vor der Lese. Bei Erreichen des richtigen Reifegrades wurden die Trauben von Hand gelesen und in die Kellerei gebracht, wo sie schonend zerdrückt wurden. Nach einer etwa 20tägigen Gärung bei Temperaturen von nicht über 28° C wurde der so gewonnene Wein in Tonneaux von einem Fassungsvermögen zwischen 3 und 5 hl gefüllt, in denen die malolaktische Gärung stattfand. Die Ausbauzeit in Holz betrug 15 Monate, während derer der Wein mehrfach travasiert wurde. Anschließend wurde der Wein in Flaschen abgefüllt, in denen er eine weitere Verfeinerungszeit von etwa 20 Monaten durchlief.

GESCHICHTE

Dieser Wein entsteht auf einem Weinberg von etwa 15 ha, der in der Gemarkung Santa Pia liegt, einer der renommiertesten Zonen für die Produktion von Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. Der Weinberg ist mit Prugnolo Gentile (Sangiovese) bestockt, der im Laufe der Jahre sorgfältig selektiert wurde, um einen Cru zu gewinnen, der den Charakter des Gebiets bestmöglich zum Ausdruck bringt. Die Tenuta La Braccesca, die sich über eine Gesamtfläche von 420 ha erstreckt, besteht aus zwei separaten Komplexen: der historische Kern des Betriebs liegt in der Zone von Montepulciano, 103 mit Reben bestockte Hektar in der für die Produktion von Rosso di Montepulciano besten Unterzone; der andere Teil mit 162 ha Rebfläche ist am Fuße der Cortona umgebenden Hügel gelegen.

VERKOSTUNGSNOTIZEN

Rubinrote Farbe mit zu Granatrot tendierenden Reflexen. Der Santa Pia 2007 zeigt ein differenziertes Duftbouquet, das von Tabak über reife rote Frucht bis zu Vanille reicht. Am Gaumen elegant mit sehr geschmeidigen und harmonischen Tanninen, denen mineralische und Gewürznoten folgen. Abschluss mit einem langen und anhaltenden Finale.
