Bolgheri Rosso Superiore Ca' Marcanda Gaja

Der Bolgheri Rosso Ca'Marcanda ist Teil der großen Winzererfahrung von Angelo Gaja, dem Autor von Weinen, die das Konzept der Gebietsvermarktung mit hochkarätigen Produkten der piemontesischen Önologie revolutioniert haben. Aus Gajas Wunsch, in das Terroir der Bolgheri-Küste in der Toskana zu investieren, entstand Ca'Marcanda, ein 100 Hektar großes Weingut, das von den ehemaligen Besitzern nach langen Verhandlungen übernommen wurde (daher der Name, der im piemontesischen Dialekt "feilschen" bedeutet).

Mit dem Bau des imposanten neuen Weinkellers wollte Gaja sein Projekt in Einklang mit der Natur bringen und nur Materialien verwenden, die bei Ausgrabungen gefunden wurden. Der Bau des neuen Weinkellers Ca'Marcanda wurde vollständig vom Architekten Giovanni Bo geleitet, einem langjährigen Mitarbeiter von Angelo Gaja, dem es gelang, dem neuen toskanischen Projekt eine ganz eigene Identität zu verleihen.

Für die Bolgheri-Weine von Ca'Marcanda hat sich Gaja entschieden, die traditionelleren Merkmale des lokalen Weinbaus zu respektieren, mit den typischen Bordeaux-Mischungen, die das Gebiet seit langem auszeichnen: Mit dem Ansatz im Weinberg und im Keller gelingt es, hohe Qualität mit etwas größeren Weinmengen zu kombinieren, als Gaja es in der Vergangenheit anderswo getan hat. Der Bolgheri Rosso Ca'Marcanda ist das absolute Symbol des Weinguts und trägt daher auch seinen Namen: Er besteht zu 50 % aus Merlot und der Rest aus einer Mischung aus Cabernet Sauvignon und Cabernet Franc. Der Bolgheri Ca'Marcanda ist ein Wein von großer Konsistenz und intensiven, vielschichtigen Aromen, die von einer subtilen Weichheit umhüllt werden, die durch den geschickten Ausbau in Barriques entsteht.

HERKUNFT DES NAMENS

Millepassi wird aus den Weinbergen in Bolgheri bei Migliarini hergestellt. Der Ortsname stammt von "milium", einem römischen Wegmaß, das tausend Schritten entspricht (m 1480), und wurde dem Gut zugeschrieben, weil es von der antiken Via Emilia durchquert wurde.

WEINBEREITUNG

Ein Wein aus einem 2 Hektar großen Weinberg, in dem die Reben nach dem Alberello-System erzogen werden, so dass jeder Rebstock den gleichen Abstand zu den umliegenden Reben hat. Der Wein wird auf sandigem Lehmboden mit mäßigem Kalkgehalt angebaut. Die charakteristische Erziehungsform der Rebstöcke und die strenge Ausdünnung der Trauben sorgen für eine maximale Produktion von 1 kg Trauben pro Zweig. Die Ernte und alle anderen Arbeiten an den Rebstöcken werden von Hand durchgeführt. Die alkoholische Gärung findet in kegelstumpfförmigen Holzfässern statt, gefolgt von einer 18-monatigen Reifung in französischen Barriques und weiteren 12 Monaten in der Flasche.
